Sometimes timing is just right and things work out the way they’re supposed to; that goes for matters of the heart the same as for music blog posts.

Since I didn’t have time to create a Music Monday post yesterday, I now get to post a brand new song by the incomparable Lykke Li. The video for “Love Me Like I’m Not Made Of Stone”(directed by Tarik Saleh) surfaced today and has already taken over playing at the strings of my heart.

After going through a rough break-up, Lykke Li wrote the songs for her upcoming album I Never Learn, which will be released on May 6th. Based on this first single and the following quote by Lykke Li (via Stereogum), the album promises to be honest and very emotional.
Every song on the album is a power ballad. Like one of those old radio stations. This is a slow dance; a slow burner. I wrote [“No Rest for the Wicked”] in Sweden when I was packing up my shit, and I’d just gotten out of a relationship and it was a horrible time. I just had the hurt, shame, sadness, guilt, longing. In the verse, I’m referring to myself pleading guilty but I’m referring to all of us.
Sounds to me like the timing of her heartbreak worked out for her to bring us and herself a powerful creation of music.

The lyrics for “Love Like I’m Not Made Of Stone” came in today’s Lykke Li newsletter. Nice touch.
