1964 Ford Fairlane 500 – In A Colorado Minute (Week 266)
Please meet Fitzgerald “Fitz” Ford Fairlane, the black (and red) 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 that came into my life during week 266.
I’ve always been enamored with classic cars – as you can see in this video from 2012: Classic Cars (Oldtimers) – In A Brooklyn Minute (Week 113).
And ever since I moved to Colorado almost two years ago and had to
embrace car culture again, I’ve been dreaming of owning a classic car.
Well, this week that dream came true! And it was love at first sight.
Fitz
has some dings and scratches and needs his red stripes repainted. But I
think he could hardly be more beautiful with his shiny black exterior,
red interior, rather subtle but super cool chrome accents (like the name
plates and hood ornaments) and the original 1960s stereo that keeps on
playing oldies whenever I’m cruising.
Can you believe how well
this shiny black car reflects the Colorado sky and (barely moving)
clouds? That’s mostly thanks to Scott who has been washing, polishing,
waxing and buffing the car while I’ve had a ridiculously busy work week.
Yet, I’m to blame for the mud caking the tires as I drove up to the
video location… Thank you so much, Scott, for Fitzgerald, for making
him so shiny and clean and for additional shots in this video!
