The elevated U1 subway line became famous through the 1980s musical Linie 1 by the Grips-Theater.
For a long time the train only ran in West Berlin. Now it connects West Berlin’s Charlottenburg and Kreuzberg with East Berlin’s Friedrichshain via the beautiful Oberbaumbruecke over the Spree River.
In this video I concentrated only on the section between the stations Kottbusser Tor and Warschauer Strasse (with Goerlitzer Bahnhof and Schlesisches Tor in-between) – in both directions. This is the lively section that connects the popular (especially at night) neighborhoods of East-Kreuzberg (SO 36) with Friedrichshain.
Also it shows some great views of Goerlitzer Park, Schlesische Strasse, Spree, East Side Gallery, Fernsehturm (TV Tower), Lausitzer Platz, Oranienstrasse (with street art by ROA) and of course Kotti (Kottbusser Tor) itself.

For this 1-minute video I doubled up
speed of the view out of the window and only showed a few excerpts. The
extended version shows the entire ride from Kottbusser Tor to
Warschauer Strasse mostly unedited and in regular speed: “View from U1 U-Bahn (Subway) – Berlin – Kottbusser Tor to Warschauer Strasse (extended version)”
