Honeymoon Island quickly became one of my favorite places as soon as we moved to the Florida Gulf Coast. Let me show you some views from the beaches and trails – with birds and wildflowers galore.
Honeymoon Island State Park deserves a more flushed out blog post than this. But I’ve been meaning to write, select photos, and post the opus for at least a month. And I keep running out of time every day. So today under a bit of pressure before diving into yet another work weekend with two markets today and tomorrow (offering my photography and Happier Place products), I just want to share a few of the photos I’ve collected without much further ado.
If you want to learn more about Honeymoon Island, please check out my comprehensive guide to the state park on the Happier Place website.
Loosely, I think of Honeymoon Island having four sections:
- Dog beach at the south with the possibility of paddling over from the causeway or to Caladesi Island
- All the non-dog beaches along the Gulf-side (west side) – with the very long North Beach at the north-west end
- Osprey and Pelican Trail with all the wildlife and birds’ nests on the north-east end
- Human amenities, like the nature center and the ferry to Caladsi Island close to the entrance
Let’s start with the views from Osprey and Pelican Trails in the wooded area of the island…
Now onto my favorite of the Honeymoon Island Beaches: North Beach…
Finally a few evening impressions from the Pet Beach (aka Dog Beach, because how many people really bring a cat or pet turtle to a beach?)…
