The Berlin Reichstag is a must-see for anyone visiting or living in the city. With so many amazing and historic sites in Berlin, it’s hard to see them all, even if you live there. But I cannot recommend a trip up to the glass dome of the Reichstag Building enough!
Berlin Reichstag… Must-See Sight with a View!
The Berlin building referred to as the Reichstag (officially: Reichtagsgebäude) is the government building for the Bundestag (the German parliament. The Berlin Reichstag building originally opened in 1894 when Germany was still the German Empire, ruled by the Kaiser (the royal leader above any kings). During the Weimar Republic (Weimarer Republik) the building was the seat of the Reichstag. After it was partially destroyed during the Second World War it sat empty while East and West Germany used other buildings for their respective government bodies. After the reunification it was restored and eventually used again for government functions. That is when the dome was rebuilt as it is today.
The footage used in this video, I originally shot in 2013 and published in a 1-minute video called Reichstag – In A Berlin Minute (Week 170). My supporters on Patreon selected this subject for a monthly extended video in 2016.
