gobioff grant announcement for post-historic st. pete
Grateful and honored to announce my mixed-media photography project “Post-Historic St. Pete” was awarded a 2024 Gobioff Microgrant!

Post-Historic St. Pete is a cohesive mixed-media (wood, concrete, glass, metal) photography series juxtaposing iconic, historic buildings with new high-rise constructions.

There will be an exhibit and speaker event in early 2025.

At this point, I don’t have the location and date locked in. The locations I had been talking to when applying for the grant are not working out due to size and timing. Basically, my project is physically getting bigger than I originally thought.

Two pieces for the larger project are already finished and were selected for the Creative Pinellas Arts Annual – on view November 29, 2024 – January 5, 2025 at the Creative Pinellas Gallery.

Each of those two pieces (“Post-Historic St. Pete I” and “Post-Historic St. Pete II”) is a 3-dimensional mixed media original photo collage mounted on historic window frames. The photos are displayed using building materials: infused into metal, transferred to wood, wheat-pasted to concrete sheets, or mounted to glass.

The grant I received is part of the Gobioff Foundation’s quarterly micro-grant giving. Thank you to the jury who selected my project and to the Gobioff Family for making these funds available for our local arts and culture and thus honoring Howard Gobioff and making the world a better place.

Located in the Tampa Bay area, the Gobioff Foundation is a private family foundation which works to support human rights organizations and the Tampa, FL arts community.
