Bangkok Haunts (Sonchai Jitpleecheep Series #3) by John Burdett
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
The third book in the Sonchai Jitpleecheep series about the non-corrupt Bangkok cop is another fast and enjoyable read. This time the detective, who likes to explain to the presumably Western reader the culture, behavior, philosophy, and spirituality of the Thai people (and some Khmer and Americans while he’s at it), is on another personal mission when an ex-girlfriend dies in a snuff film and he gets haunted by her spirit. While the previous books had slight elements of the supernatural (Sonchai can tell who people were in a former life), this book seems to finally cross that line of realism.
