I took this photo of street art featuring a peace dove and a world map in Havana, Cuba.
Being post-war German, I always thought of myself as a pacifist, but after experiencing 9/11 while living in NYC, I knew for sure: I do not believe that murdering people and destroying homes, former safe spaces, hospitals, livelihoods, wildlife, plants, culture, and historic artifacts solves anything or brings back anything or makes the world a better and safer place. Violence begets violence begets violence…
Hi Luci, no one has repeated what Mahatma Gandhi did to stop the imperialist Brits. A powerful act that worked. I loved the photo of the peace dove. Well done Luci.
Thank you, Jenny! That Mahatma Gandhi was something else. An inspiration.
