Helen Hunt Falls – In A Colorado Minute (287)

The Helen Hunt Falls can be found just south of Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs in the North Cheyenne Cañon Park.
It’s free to enter and was recommended to us on our Manitou Springs
Road Trip over the much hyped Seven Falls. I’ll still have to check that
one out and compare.

The drive through Cheyenne Cañon to the
waterfalls is lovely with many opportunities to stop along the Cheyenne
Creek. Once you arrive at the Helen Hunt Falls parking lot, you can see
the Helen Hunt waterfall, and the footbridge crossing it, right away.
After a short but steep hike, you arrive at the top of Silver Cascade
Falls with the great view of the foothills, valley and city below as
seen in the video.

The waterfall is not named after the actress Helen Hunt, but Helen Maria Hunt Jackson, a 19th century poet, writer and activist for Native American rights.
