On May 11, 2015, The Jesus and Mary Chain played at the Ogden Theatre in Denver as part of a tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their album Psychocandy.
It was an absolutely amazing show, which took me right back to my teenage years and reminded me of why I considered this band to be my very favorite for such a long time. Their music is loud, sonic, dark, melodious and beautiful – all at the same time. And the lyrics go straight to the heart and gut.
Before playing the entire Psychocandy album, they played a few other favorites. Incredibly, they started the show with my most loved song: “April Skies” from the album Darklands. I barely got my camera up in time to capture an excerpt from the performance before enjoying the rest of the song without trying to keep a camera steady…
