This photo of the boardwalk that reaches into the wetlands lake of Paynes Prairie directly off US 441, I took on an early January morning in 2021.

This photo seems as surreal and digitally created as the actual sight appeared in front of my eyes. Of course, both what I saw and this photo are totally real and not digitally created.

This is how I took this picture – right after doing a u-turn on my way from Gainesville to Paynes Prairie State Park (for an early morning hike) because that fog over the prairie swamp and the pier were just too enticing. Next I walked out onto the pier to get a few photos of mist and birds. The mist eventually rolled in completely and I could hardly see anything anymore – not even the road and my car on the other end.

I did brighten the photo after first posting it on Patreon and before posting it here, but I’m thinking I might need to brighten it just a little more. Not totally sure though – might be my monitor in my bright Florida lab (aka office) is giving me a false sense of darkness from the monitor.

Available for purchase with various options of size and material.
